The Corporation SC is sponsoring a benefit for Christina Kuecker, a DSM area woman who was run down by a car 3 weeks ago while scooting to work.  If you are not familiar with her story, she suffered significant head trauma and remains in critical condition at an area hospital.

The event will kick off at The Fremont at noon and will feature scooter/bicycle/motorcycle rides during the day with a benefit show featuring Des Moines area bands that evening.  All registration and door proceeds will be donated to The Christina Recovery Fund.

Update 9/26/11

The Fremont

1030 E 9th St, Des Moines, IA.

The Fremont is directly north of the Iowa State Capitol on E 9th St.  If you are driving westbound on I-235, take the E 14th St exit, then turn left on University until you reach E 9th St.  Turn left and travel 2 blocks.  For drivers traveling eastbound on I-235, take the Pennsylvania Avenue exit and then head north on the one way street.  Turn right at Fremont St and proceed until E 9th St.

Schedule of Events

Noon – 1pm Registration and Ride organization

1pm – 1:20pm Lineup

1:30pm – 4pm Bike Specific Rides

4pm – 6pm Social Hour at The Fremont.  Depending on scooter turnout, there may also be a slow race and improvised gymkhana course.  Food will be served.

6pm – 12am Christina Recovery Fund Benefit Show featuring:  DJ 810, Holy White Hounds, EGO, and 6000 Wings and the Bended Bow

Doors for the show open at 5pm, music at 6pm.

After kicking St. Patrick’s Day off at the Rude Boy Bar & Grill, The Corp made its way down to Des Moines’ annual SPD parade.  The mood was festive with several small (and not so small) children swarming the scoots, trying to get a small piece of the greatness that is The Corp.  With only one small fender bender intra-event, the parade was labeled a success and then celebrated back at the RBBG.

One keg of Guinness was harmed during these festivities…

The Corporation was downtown in full force on Wednesday, August 11th for the annual Iowa State Fair Parade. We all had a blast, even though it was fairly humid the entire time. We were even covered by the local TV station.
